Our Mission

Arriba Juntos is dedicated to promoting economic self-sufficiency for San Franciscans and their families through occupational training and employment opportunities. Each client receives intensive case management, educational and skills advancement, vocational training, supportive services, work readiness instruction, and placement services. In addition, we provide many vital services to the residents of our community. We have been committed to this mission since 1965, making it one of the longest running workforce organizations in the city.

 

Programs

English

An intensive English language immersion program that focuses on teaching vocabulary and the cultural customs of the workplace. Participants progress from the lowest level of language ability to a workable knowledge of English.

Our Health Career programs consist of Certified Nursing Assistant, Home Health Aide, Homecare Provider, and CPR classes. CNA/HHA flyer

Technology

The Automated Office Skills Training (AOST) program is designed to prepare students for employment in a computerized office environment. Arriba Juntos also offers the opportunity to become  a certified Microsoft Office Specialist.

Information & Referral
We provide information and referral assistance with regard to social service resources and programs in the community and around the Bay Area including: financial assistance, housing and shelter information, healthcare, children's services and legal services, among others.

Covered California Enrollment Assistance
AJ helps individuals and their loved ones apply for health coverage through Covered California. We help prospective applicants navigate the health insurance marketplace and understand the different income-based coverage options.  

Open Access Computer Center
Our center represents a crucial part in a deliberate effort to bridge the digital divide by providing technology equipment and assistance. It offers access to resources such as fax machine, telephone, copy services and computers with internet access. During the year, more than 8,000 job seekers utilize our computer center.

Lunch Distribution
During the week, we provide students hot and nourishing lunches made possible through food donations from Chipotle Mexican Grill. We also serve weekly morning snacks thanks to donations from local Starbucks stores.

Drop-in Job Orientations
Through our twice-weekly Drop-in Job Orientations clients are offered current job listings in fields such as hospitality, construction, health, retail, administrative and many others. Clients are also provided assistance with job applications, resumes, cover letters and interviewing techniques. Over 9,700 community members have accessed our drop-in job orientations.

Microsoft Office Specialist Certification
AJ serves as a Microsoft Authorized Testing center for the Microsoft Office Specialist Certification (MOSC), the only Microsoft approved program in the world for certifying proficiency in Microsoft Office desktop applications. 

SF Public Defender Clean Slate Walk-In Clinic
AJ hosts a Clean Slate Walk-in Clinic in partnership with the San Francisco Public Defender's Office. Participants with a criminal record have the opportunity to work with Clean Slate attorney to clear their record.

Flea Market
Every Saturday and Sunday AJ opens its parking lot to local vendors to sell their products and goods at our Flea Market. We provide the opportunity for people to earn income by participating in our market.

PG&E CARE Program
This program provides monthly discounts on energy bills for income qualified households. Clients receive application assistance, so the paperwork can be sent to PG&E for review.

The AJ Boutique
Our clients receive free professional interview and workplace clothing. The boutique is open daily to the community at large for very low cost clothing and household items. AJ accepts donations to support their effort.

Cal-Fresh Application Assistance
As an access site for Cal-Fresh benefit applications, AJ is able to assist prospective applicants in assessing their eligibility and submitting applications for Cal-Fresh.
